Trump staff says Paul Ryan will endorse him Wednesday, Ryan’s staff disagrees
Donald Trump’s campaign staff has circulated a rumor that Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) plans to endorse Trump for president Wednesday, but Ryan’s staff seems to disagree.
“Senior-level Trump campaign sources” told ABC News that Ryan would endorse Trump Wednesday without specifying when or where it would take place.
However, AshLee Strong, Ryan’s press secretary, said “there’s no update.”
“We’ve not told the Trump campaign to expect an endorsement,” Strong said in a statement. “He’s also not told anyone he regrets anything.”
Ryan has a briefing on the House GOP agenda scheduled Wednesday in Washington, according to ABC.
Ryan and Trump spoke earlier this month on Capitol Hill after Ryan said publicly that he wasn’t ready to endorse Trump for president.
