Kasich calls himself ‘only hope’ in Star Wars video - then drops out of presidential race

Ohio Gov. John Kasich is apparently a Star Wars fan. But the force is not with him.

Kasich is expected to suspend his race for the Republican presidential nomination at an event later today. That will leave Donald Trump as the sole candidate for the Republican Party after Sen. Ted Cruz dropped out Tuesday evening.

Earlier Wednesday morning, Kasich tweeted a video with the caption, “Our Only Hope.” The video features the scrolling text at the beginning of every “Star Wars” movie to set up the grim circumstances of the state of the universe.

Kasich uses the text to describe Donald Trump losing in “the largest landslide since Reagan in 1984,” following with what he believes will happen under a Hillary Clinton presidency in 2017. He has five main predictions:

1) Clinton will nominate Sen. Elizabeth Warren to fill the United States Supreme Court vacancy left by the late Justice Antonin Scalia.

2) Rep. Nancy Pelosi will again become majority leader of the House of Representatives and will begin planning tax hikes, which should be signed by President Clinton.

3) Clinton is drafting executive orders to limit the Second Amendment.

4) Clinton is also drafting executive orders to increase federal spending on Obamacare.

5) Allies are losing faith in America and it is falling from its place as a world leader.

The video ends, “But we have hope it can be different...” News reports follow, with reporters say Kasich is the only Republican candidate who polls show could beat Clinton in November.

May 4 is regarded as Star Wars Day in the U.S. due to the phrase in the popular franchise, “May the force be with you.” People commonly say, “May the fourth be with you,” on May 4.
