On September 11, 2015, Connecticut resident Michael Picard was filming a protest near a police DUI checkpoint in West Hartford. Unbeknownst to the troopers who confiscated his camera, it was rolling while they appeared to fabricate criminal charges against him. The ACLU of Connecticut sued the police officers for violating Picard’s rights.

A man who pleaded guilty to stealing is suing Kansas City police, claiming they used excessive force in arresting him. Manuel Palacio, 24, alleges that officers kneed him in the back, beat him in the ribs and made verbal threats during the arrest in May 2014. This dashcam video captured the alleged abuse.
High school students across Florida staged walkouts and protests to show solidarity and demand tougher state and federal gun laws. The protests were in response to the deadly shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida that killed 17 people.
Amanda Meyer, originally from Strawberry Point, Iowa, filmed herself destroying a gun in response to the mass shooting that happened at a Florida high school.
