Commentary: Senate colleagues say Bunning is most partisan

This editorial appeared in The Lexington Herald-Leader.

Kentucky's Sen. Jim Bunning was identified by his Democratic colleagues as the Senate's most partisan Republican in a survey by The Hill.

The newspaper, which specializes in covering Congress, reported that several Democrats said Bunning is so irascible that they don't even try talking to the Hall of Fame pitcher unless it's about baseball.

That will come as no surprise to Kentuckians who have known Bunning's surly side for years.

What's more noteworthy is Bunning's one-word response to the survey.

Other Republicans went on at some length about the Democrat or Democrats with whom they have the best working relationship.

All Bunning said was "no."
