As our country settles in for a well-deserved respite from an ever-lengthening campaign season that, more than ever, pits citizen against citizen for the sake of ideology; as we prepare for a new day, for new leadership and new ideas, the timing of Veterans Day celebration couldn’t be more fitting.
Quite frankly, we are able to reconstruct our government at regularly scheduled intervals because of those we will honor today. North Korea slaughters dissidents.
Cuban families are willing to load their lives onto what amounts to a Wal-Mart pool toy on the slim chance they might live to see the shores of Florida and freedom.
Somalians have no government.
And we complain.
Thank God, and a veteran for that right.
