Stephen Colbert is betting this summer’s political conventions will provide him ample comedic inspiration.
The host of “The Late Show” will broadcast live during both the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, CBS announced Wednesday. Colbert himself won’t be on the ground at the events, but the show will have correspondents there.
The Republican convention takes place July 18-21 in Cleveland and the Democratic convention takes place July 25-28 in Philadelphia. Both events are likely to make excellent fodder for late-night shows in an election cycle that has been a boon for television ratings.
