Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has prevailed as the winner of the Kentucky presidential primary.
Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Grimes announced Thursday that Clinton remained ahead of Sen. Bernie Sanders, D-Vt., following a reexamination of the results. Sanders requested the recanvass because totals originally showed Clinton winning by less than 2,000 votes.
Grimes confirmed after the recanvass that Clinton beat out Sanders by 1,911 votes, and Sanders declined to request an official recount. A recanvass is a review of vote totals, and is not a recount. Kentucky conducted the process at no cost to the Sanders campaign.
Clinton has 1,768 of the 2,382 delegates needed to win the Democratic nomination. Sanders has 1,497 ahead of the next primaries on June 7.
