Mitt Romney’s getting back in the ring.
Not that ring. He’s going to fight former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield May 15 at a charity boxing event.
“It will either be a very short fight, or I will be knocked unconscious,” Romney, 68, told the Salt Lake Tribune, which first reported the matchup. Holyfield is 52.
It’s all for charity and all for fun. Its aim is to raise money for CharityVision, a group backed by the Romney family.
“We just thought it would be a lot better to provide this kind of entertainment rather than just have dinner and listen to speakers,” Romney told the Tribune. The 2012 Republican presidential nominee considering running again for the 2016 nod, but decided not to.
Josh Romney, one of Mitt’s sons and the group’s president, told the Tribune the evening will be a black tie event.
His father and Holyfield won’t trade big punches.
“We'll both suit up and get in the ring and spar around a little bit," Mitt Romney said.
