S.C. Republicans will move their presidential primary to Jan. 21, five weeks earlier than originally scheduled, party officials announced this morning.
The move comes in response to Florida moving its primary to Jan. 31. It's part of a domino effect that's also expected to see Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada move their nominating contests up.
The changes accelerate the GOP presidential calendar. The Charlotte area could see more presidential activity earlier, both across the border in York County and in media buys on Charlotte television.
