California Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de León was considered as Hillary Clinton’s running mate but it appears he didn’t last long in the running, according to emails released by WikiLeaks.
The website has been posting emails hacked from the private account of John Podesta, Clinton’s campaign chief.
In a March 12 email exchange with Cheryl Mills, Clinton’s former chief of staff at the State Department, Podesta listed de León among 36 people “worth considering” for vice-president, including Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, Rep. Xavier Becerra, D-Los Angeles and Apple CEO Tim Cook.
But five days later Podesta wrote an email to hdr29@hrcoffice.com, an address that may have been used by Clinton, with a revised list that no longer included de León but added a few new names, including Michael Bloomberg, and kept Garcetti, Becerra and Cook in the running.
