Rand Paul is set to report raising $3.1 million over the last three months for his U.S. Senate race against Democratic nominee Charles Booker this fall.

The numbers, provided first to McClatchyDC, will show Paul holding $9.2 million on hand to spend for his re-election.

Paul has now raised a total of $19.5 million during the entirety of the 2022 midterm cycle.

“Dr. Rand Paul’s pro-liberty message continues to resonate with Kentuckians who depend on him to defend their freedoms in the Senate,” said Jake Cox, Paul’s deputy campaign manager. “He has raised nearly $20 million this cycle because of his staunch opposition to defunding the police and his work to balance our nation’s budget. Dr. Paul is better positioned than ever to win in November.”

A spokesperson for Booker’s campaign did not respond to a request for his second quarter fundraising totals, which covers receipts between the start of April and the end of June.

In his last federal finance report filed in April, Booker had only reported having $474,184 in the bank.

Fundraising is a key component to any campaign’s success and is used to pay for television, digital and mail advertising as well as staffing for get-out-the-vote efforts.

Paul is seen as a heavy favorite against Booker with less than four months before the November election.

Booker is the first Black Kentuckian in the history of the commonwealth to become the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate.
