Voters in four states go to the polls Tuesday, with Arizona likely to provide the most drama.
Oklahoma, Florida and Vermont are also voting. In Florida, former Gov. Charlie Crist is expected to win the Democratic nomination to face incumbent Republican Rick Scott.
“With a huge advantage in fundraising and name recognition, Crist is a heavy favorite over former Senate Democratic leader Nan Rich,” Associated Press reports. “The question is whether his victory margin will match those advantages or instead suggest that he's struggling to connect with core Democrats.”
In Arizona, the most closely watched race involves a six-person Republican primary for governor.
“Former Cold Stone CEO Doug Ducey has tried to make the race for Arizona governor about ice cream, but it's really about the pie and how it gets divided six ways,” the Arizona Republic reports. Ducey is the establishment favorite, but Gov. Jan Brewer is behind former Mesa Mayor Scott Smith. Christine Jones, a former GoDaddy executive, has stressed immigration issues.
“Multiple polls show Ducey as the favorite, but nobody's likely to be calling this one until the last primary vote is counted,” says the Republic.
Another Arizona race will get attention in Washington. Republicans see Democrats Ann Kirkpatrick and Krysten Sinema as vulnerable, and voters Tuesday will pick their Republican opponents.
