The political war over immigration policy heated up Monday, as Democrats began running ads against six House of Representatives Republicans who represent districts where the issue appears to be crucial.

The paid online Spanish-language ads translate as: “Failure! Congressman ...is part of the problem, and his leaders are hurting our DREAMers. He’s failing our community. Shame on him!”

Before leaving Friday for a five week recess, the House passed Republican-backed legislation that would make it simpler to deport unaccompanied minors, while another bill would take away the administration’s authority to rule on whether certain immigrants should stay in this country. Republicans maintain they’re being tough on illegal immigration Many also have urged comprehensive approaches.

The targeted Republicans include Reps. Jeff Denham and David Valadao of Califoirnia, Joe Heck of Nevada, Michael Grimm of New York, Steve Pearce of New Mexico and Mike Coffman of Colorado.
