The host of Comedy Central's The Colbert Report says he got an unexpected honor at Tuesday's State Dinner in honor of French President Francois Hollande -- he's now the First Lady of France.
That's because Hollande arrived without a date (thanks to le scandal) -- and Colbert was seated next to first lady Michelle Obama -- a perch traditionally reserved for the spouse of the visiting head of state.
"Merci, merci," he said, as his staff pelted him with roses. "Such a grande honor."
He said his first lady initiatives will include reviving the guillotine and that his Colbert Report will remain unchanged -- but that "the show will now be made with more butter."
"I gotta tell you it was a magical evening," Colbert said of the dinner, displaying his White House invite -- with the seal and "a solid gold tassle -- you can melt that down."
