The Campaign to Fix the Debt will launch a national ad campaign Tuesday to press lawmakers to pass a budget and raise the debt ceiling.
“The American people are fed up with what’s going on in Washington,” former Republican Senator Alan Simpson said. “The national debt is a threat to jobs and our economic future yet we continue on our course of inaction.”
The TV ad will air nationally in targeted states as well as Washington and will include digital and outdoor ads.
“It’s going to take real political courage for folks to begin working together to confront the long-term fiscal problems facing the country,” said former Clinton Chief of Staff Erskine Bowles. “Now is the time to tell Washington it’s long past time to fix the debt.”
