That didn’t take long.
With the embers of the 2010 election still smoldering, Republican Sarah Steelman today announced that she will run for the U.S. Senate in two years.
If she gets through the primary, her opponent likely will be Democratic incumbent Claire McCaskill, who already is painting herself as an underdog.
She is the first Republican to announce for the seat.
“I want to do my part in fighting for America’s future,” Steelman says on her new campaign website.
“That’s why I have decided to run for the United States Senate. We need to create an economic climate of growth where families keep their own hard earned income. The country’s total federal debt is at $13.7 trillion and rising.
