Washington state Tea Party group calls for Sen. Murray to be hanged

Asotin — A Southeast Washington Tea Party group called for Democratic Sen. Patty Murray to be hung.

KLEW TV, the local CBS affiliate in Lewiston, Idaho and Clarkston, Wash., reported Monday on a Tea Party in Asotin during which one of the speakers said she wanted to hang the U.S. senator.

"How many of you have watched the movie Lonesome Dove?," the woman said. "What happened to Jake when he ran with the wrong crowd? What happened to Jake when he ran with the wrong crowd. He got hung. And that's what I want to do with Patty Murray."

Bloggers around the country picked up the story after it appeared on the Huffington Post, and a debate has sprung up whether this is a matter of free speech or whether the Lewis & Clark Tea Party Patriots went too far.
