Fifth Congressional District candidates disagreed on Iraq and global warming issues in a public forum Tuesday, and the presence of a third-party candidate thrust a new dynamic into the race.
Venango County Libertarian Jim Fryman agreed with Clearfield County Democrat Mark McCracken on Iraq, saying U.S. troops should be withdrawn as soon as possible, and agreed with Centre County Republican Glenn Thompson’s doubts that human beings contribute significantly to global warming.
The Penn State-sponsored forum Tuesday at the Grange Fair brought Thompson, McCracken and Fryman together for the first time, and they answered questions with few big differences on the 5th District’s rural economy.
