Republican voters have seasoned candidates in the primary for Missouri governor. Two top officeholders jumped into the race for the Republican nomination after Gov. Matt Blunt surprised many by deciding against seeking re-election.
The Star recommends that GOP voters choose U.S. Rep. Kenny Hulshof of Columbia to carry the party banner in November against Attorney General Jay Nixon, the likely Democratic nominee.
Nixon also is The Star’s choice in the Democratic primary, where there is not much competition.
