Impeachment trial by the numbers: Who spoke the longest - and least?

New data from C-SPAN shows Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff, of California, has dominated the speaking time at President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial.

Numbers released by the television network Wednesday show Schiff was at the lectern more than eight and a half hours over a three-day presentation period, which was nearly as long as all of Trump’s lawyers’ presentations combined.

Following Schiff, the House impeachment managers who spoke the most were New York Rep. Hakeem Jeffries and Texas Rep. Sylvia Garcia. Florida Rep. Val Demings spoke the least, with her time coming just over an hour and a half.

When it came to Trump’s defense team, Pat Philbin led the speaking time at nearly two hours. Next came Jay Sekulow and Mike Purpura. Jane Raskin spoke the least with only 16 minutes at the lectern.

House managers overall spoke more than twice as long as Trump’s defense team during the 24hours they were allotted. C-SPAN data shows Trump’s defense team spoke for a little under 10 hours, compared to the more than 21 hours House managers used for their presentation.

Trump’s defense team rested its case Tuesday, and the trial has now started its question-and-answer phase. Both sides will have a total of 16 hours to answer questions over a two-day period.
