The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to a civilian car detonated in Uqba bin Nafa' Square in Karrada, central Baghdad, at 7 a.m. Saturday, seriously injuring the driver.

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to the door of a store that sells alcoholic beverages in Amil neighbourhood, southwest Baghdad, detonated at 8 a.m. Saturday, destroying the store, without casualties. When the civil defence unit and the police came to the explosion site to put out the fire, another bomb went off, injuring two fire fighters, two policemen and two civilians.

Two mortar rounds slammed into the Green Zone, at around 7 a.m. Saturday. No casualties were reported. A third round slammed into Abu Nowas Street, just across the river from the Green Zone, near to an army checkpoint, injuring two army servicemen.

A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol in Tarmiyah neighbourhood, northwest Baghdad, at 6 p.m. Saturday, injuring three army servicemen.

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to the private car of one of the security guards of the defence minister, detonated in Amil neighbourhood, southwest Baghdad, at 7 p.m. Saturday, seriously injuring him.

The body of an employee in the electricity ministry was found in Qanat Street, northeast Baghdad, Saturday. There were gunshot wounds in the head and chest.

Nineveh

A roadside bomb targeted an army patrol in Awainat village, northwest of Mosul, Saturday, injuring two civilians: a father and his young son.

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to the private car of a policeman detonated in Suez intersection, east Mosul, Saturday, seriously injuring the policeman.

Armed men shot and killed a policeman in Sarjkhana neighbourhood, central Mosul, Saturday. He was on vacation.

An unidentified body was found in Abta area, west Mosul, Saturday. He was strangled.

The body of a Kurdish man was found near Sada village, north of Mosul, late Friday. It had gunshot wounds in the head.

Kirkuk

Three car bombs targeted members of one of the leading Kurd political parties in the Kurdistan region, (the PUK, led by President Talabani) in three different neighbourhoods of Kirkuk, leaving at least 25 people injured, said security officials in a preliminary report.
