Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq, Wednesday 29 September, 2010

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.


A roadside bomb targeted civilians near Kahramana Square, Karrada, central Baghdad, at 7.30 a.m. Wednesday, injuring two civilians.

Two home made bombs exploded within minutes of each other near the National Theatre, Karrada, central Baghdad at around 9 a.m. Wednesday, injuring five civilians.

Mortars targeted the Green Zone at around 11 a.m. Wednesday. No casualties were reported.


Armed men stormed the house of Major Saeed, Chief of Jalam police, in the city of Samarra, to the northwest of Baghdad, late Tuesday, and shot him dead.


A suspicious stranger was seen crossing the border (with Iran) into Beshdar area by the villagers, Wednesday. This information was given to the Asayesh (Kurd intelligence) who ambushed him – but he exploded and seriously injured two Asayesh members.
