Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq - Thursday 16 September, 2010

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.


Three unidentified bodies were found in Baghdad today; a young man in his twenties with gunshot wounds, near the date-syrup plant in Kathimiyah, northwest Baghdad. A man in his thirties with gunshot wounds, in Salhiyah neighbourhood, central Baghdad, and a 14-year-old boy with torture marks, without naming the neighbourhood.

A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol in Athamiyah neighbourhood, north Baghdad, at 7.30 p.m. Monday, injuring two policemen and two civilians.

A roadside bomb targeted civilians on the main thoroughfare in I'lam neighbourhood, south Baghdad, at 7.30 p.m. Monday, injuring four.


A suicide bomber wearing an explosive vest targeted a Sahwa headquarters in Samarra, Thursday, killing two Sahwa members and injuring another three.


A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol near Noor Mosque along the main route between Kirkuk and Baghdad in south Kirkuk, Thursday morning, injuring one policeman. When another police patrol came a few minutes later to investigate the explosion incident, another bomb went off, seriously injuring a police officer. Medical sources said that his injuries are critical.
