Round-up of daily Violence in Iraq - Friday 3 September, 2010

This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.


A roadside bomb targeted a joint Sahwa and Iraqi Police checkpoint in Tarmiyah, northwest Baghdad, at 2 p.m. Friday, injuring four civilians, two Sahwa members and one policeman.

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to the private car of Police Lieut. Col. Mohammed Riyadh, chief of a directorate of Iraqi Police in Baghdad, detonated at 10 p.m. Thursday, seriously injuring Riyadh and killing his brother who was with him in the car. His brother was one of the security guards of the Minister of Defence.

A roadside bomb targeted an army patrol in Khadhraa neighbourhood, west Baghdad, late Thursday, injuring three army servicemen.


The body of a Christian man was found in the town of Namrod to the south of Mosul. Their were several gun-shot wounds.

A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol in the old industrial area, west Mosul, killing one civilian and injuring another.

A home made bomb that was planted near a police checkpoint in Mamoun neighbourhood, westMOsul, detonated, Friday, killing one policeman.

A roadside bomb targeted an army patrol in al Islah al Zira'i neighbourhood, west Mosul, injuring two army servicemen.
