Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq - Saturday 14 August 2010

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.


- Gunmen killed two policemen while they were asleep in their patrol car in New Baghdad neighborhood, east Baghdad, and then set the car on fire and fled the place around 6 a.m.

- Gunmen using guns fitted with silencers killed two policemen from the federal police in a drive-by shooting in Amil neighborhood, southwest Baghdad, around 7 a.m.

- Gunmen attacked a checkpoint of Sahwa militia, A U.S. backed militia, in Shaab neighborhood, northeast Baghdad, killing one militia man and injuring another around 7:15 a.m.

- A sticky bomb stuck to a civilian car exploded as the car entered an Iraqi police checkpoint in Al Amil neighborhood injuring the driver and one policeman.

- A roadside bomb targeted civilians in Al Jihad neighborhood caused injuries to three civilians.
