Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq - Friday 30 July, 2010

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.


A magnetic bomb stuck to a minibus exploded in the main bus station in Mashtal neighbourhood, east Baghdad, at 8 a.m. Friday causing no casualties.

A roadside bomb targeted a minibus carrying a family in Tarmiyah, northwest Baghdad, at 11 p.m. Friday, killing three members of the family and injuring seven others and the driver.

A roadside bomb targeted civilians in Khadhraa neighbourhood, west Baghdad, Friday, injuring two.

A mortar round slammed into an orchard in Shaab neighbourhood, north Baghdad, at 11 p.m. Friday, injuring one of the sons of the farmer who owned it.


Several rockets targeted a joint (Iraqi - American) base near Halfiyah oil well in Maysan province, said a U.S. military press release. One rocket hit nearly 200 m from one of the oil wells. The rocket attack caused no casualties or damages to the infra structure of the oil field.
