The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

A roadside bomb exploded near a deserted warehouse used as a U.S. military base in the town of Mahmoudiyah, to the south of Baghdad, Thursday. No casualties were reported.

A roadside bomb targeted a U.S. convoy in Rashdiyah area, northeast Baghdad, Thursday. The explosion caused material damages to one of the military vehicles, said eyewitnesses. No casualties were reported.

A roadside bomb exploded in Sabi' al Bor area, north Baghdad, causing no casualties.

Armed men in a speeding car opened fire at two civilians in Jihad neighbourhood, west Baghdad, killing one and injuring the other.

Two mortar rounds hit the Green Zone at 4 p.m. Thursday. No casualties were reported.

Armed men opened fire at Ahmed Jassim, an officer in the Iraqi army, in Oqba Bin Nafi' Square, Karrada, central Baghdad, at 10 p.m. Thursday, severely injuring Jassim.

A roadside bomb targeted civilians in Mada'in area, a suburb to the southeast of Baghdad, at 10.30 p.m. Thursday, injuring three.

Two mortar rounds slammed into Abu Disheer neighbourhood, Dora, south Baghdad, at 10 p.m. Thursday, injuring two civilians.

Diyala

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to a motorcycle that belongs to an employee of Police Affairs department, detonated after he parked the motorcycle at his front door and entered his house, Thursday morning. No one was hurt. (After almost a week of explosions in Diyala, strict measures are being observed at checkpoints – and the residents are keeping mostly to their homes).

Nineveh

Armed men opened fire at a police patrol driving through Ghazi Street, central Mosul, Thursday, killing one civilian and injuring two policemen and one woman.

Armed men shot and killed one civilian in Zinjilly neighbourhood, west Mosul, Thursday.

A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol in Yarmouk Square, west Mosul, Thursday killing one policeman and injuring four others.

Armed men opened fire and killed one civilian in Tanak neighbourhood, west Mosul, Thursday.

A roadside bomb targeted an Iraqi army patrol in Masarif neighbourhood, east Mosul, Thursday, injuring three civilians.

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to the car of a retired Brig. Gen. in the former Iraqi army, detonated, in New Mosul, west Mosul, Thursday, killing the former officer.

Anbar

A roadside bomb targeted a Kia pick-up truck on the traffic bridge in Fallujah, Thursday, killing the driver.
