The daily violence report is compiled by McClatchy Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to the McClatchy Washington Baghdad Bureau.

Baghdad

A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol on the main route to Dora Refinery in south Baghdad, Wednesday, injuring two policemen.

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to the car of Maj. Gen. Sabah al Shiblawi, Chief of Baghdad police, in New Baghdad neighbourhood, east Baghdad, Wednesday, injuring the driver. Shiblawi was not in the car.

Two mortar rounds slammed into the Green Zone, Wednesday. No casualties were reported.

A roadside bomb targeted the motorcade of Col. Abdulkereem Ali, chief of Radhwaniyah police station, in Jihad neighbourhood, west Baghdad, Wednesday, injuring one of his security guards.

A home made bomb was placed inside a car belonging to former member of the sahwa force in Ameriyah, Basim Muhammed, in Ameriyah neighbourhood, west Baghdad, Wednesday, Killing Muhammed and injuring three civilian passers-by.

A roadside bomb targeted civilians near to the Turkoman club in Palestine Street, east Baghdad, Wednesday, injuring two.

One unidentified body of a man in his thirties was found in Huseiniyah neighbourhood, northeast Baghdad.

Diyala

A car bomb parked near a mosque in the central market place in Abu Sayda village, 10 km to the east of Baquba, detonated at around 6 p.m. Wednesday, bringing down a large part a nearby building. Casualties stand at 30 killed and 46 injured.

A roadside bomb targeted a U.S. military convoy in Diyala, Wednesday, killing one American soldier, said a U.S. military press release: "A United States Division North Soldier died today in Diyala province when the Soldier's vehicle was attacked with an improvised explosive device".

Nineveh

A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol in Yarmouk roundabout, west Mosul, injuring two policemen.

A colonel in the Iraqi army was targeted by a magnetic bomb stuck to his private car. The bomb detonated while he was driving in Gayara district, south Mosul, Wednesday, seriously injuring the officer.

Kirkuk

A roadside bomb targeted a civilian pick-up truck in Bajuan village on an inter-city road to the south of the city of Kirkuk, Wednesday, injuring the three men inside the truck, one of whom was a security guard in the North Oil Company.

Armed men opened fire upon a car in Zarkari neighbourhood, late Tuesday, injuring the two men inside it, one of whom, Muhammed Rahim, is a member of the Asayesh, the Kurd intelligence.
