The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

A magnetic bomb stuck to a Kia minibus detonated in Sheikh Omer neighbourhood, main car-repair area in central Baghdad, at 10 a.m. Thursday, killing one civilian and severely injuring another three.

A mortar round slammed into the river bank near Nowas Street, central Baghdad, causing no casualties.

Armed men in a speeding car opened fire at a federal police checkpoint in Masbah intersection, Karrada, central Baghdad at 5.30 p.m. Wednesday, injuring two policemen and one civilian.

Armed men threw a hand grenade at a police checkpoint in Ghazaliyah neighbourhood, west Baghdad, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, injuring two policemen.

Armed men threw a hand grenade at an Iraqi army checkpoint in Ilam, Saidiyah neighbourhood, south Baghdad, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, injuring two army servicemen and one civilian.

A roadside bomb targeted civilians in Adil neighbourhood, west Baghdad, at noon, Wednesday, killing two civilians and injuring two others.

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to a civilian car, detonated, in Bunook neighbourhood, northeast Baghdad, at noon, Wednesday, injuring the driver.

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to the car of Salih Mizhir, commander of Sahwa in Ray neighbourhood, west Baghdad, detonated, Wednesday, seriously injuring Mizhir.

A magnetic bomb, stuck to a civilian car, detonated, late Tuesday, injuring two civilians (both inside the car).

A roadside bomb exploded in Talbiyah, northeast Baghdad, late Tuesday, injuring one civilian.

A roadside bomb targeted the car of Judge Hasen Aziz Abdurahman, of the Investigations' Court, in Yarmouk neighbourhood, Tuesday, killing the judge.

Nineveh

A roadside bomb targeted a motorcade of an Iraqi security company in Yarmouk Square, west Mosul, Wednesday, injuring four security guards.

A store in Baghdad coach station in west Mosul was blown up, Wednesday, injuring three civilians.

Kirkuk

A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol in Kornish Street, central Kirkuk, Tuesday, injuring four policemen.

A roadside bomb targeted a U.S. military patrol near the village of Bakara, Hawijah district, 35 km to the southwest of the city of Kirkuk. Tuesday. No casualties were reported by the U.S. military, and Iraqi security authorities have no information because the U.S. military usually cordons off the site of such incidents, and allows no-one to approach.
