The daily violence report is compiled by McClatchy Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to the McClatchy Washington Baghdad Bureau.

Baghdad

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to Brig. Gen. Ward Mohan's car detonated in Salahuddin intersection in Ameriyah neighbourhood, west Baghdad, at 8 a.m. Tuesday killing Mohan and seriously injuring Col. Talib Abdullah, who was in the passenger seat.

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to a civilian car detonated in Hurriyah neighbourhood, northwest Baghdad, at 8.15 a.m. Tuesday, killing one civilian and injuring three others.

A roadside bomb that was planted under the Mikanik traffic bridge in Dora, south Baghdad detonated, Tuesday, targeting civilians, injuring three.

A roadside bomb that was planted under an oil pipe in Rashdiyash neighbourhood, north Baghdad, exploded at 8 a.m. Tuesday destroying a length of the pipe and causing a fire that was, at last put out around noon. No human casualties were reported.

Armed men broke into a home in Zafaraniyah, southeast Baghdad, early Tuesday, beheaded a 28 year-old woman and left.

Nineveh

Armed men in a speeding car opened fire at two brothers walking down the street in Shura neighbourhood, south Mosul, Tuesday killing one and seriously injuring the other.

Armed men broke into a home in Zinjilly neighbourhood, west Mosul, Tuesday, killing one woman and seriously injuring two others.

Five mortar rounds slammed into the stadium in Bab Sinjar, west Mosul, Tuesday, causing material damages only. Security authorities said that the mortars were targeting the police headquarters next door, but missed.

The body of a 20 year-old man was found in Nebi Younis neighbourhood, east Mosul, late Monday, with gun-shot wounds in the head.

Diyala

Three brothers (young adults) and their 9 year-old sister who were out in the wilderness with their buffaloes, were attacked by armed men who shot and killed all four of them in al Hasnat area, Khalis district, 15 km to the north of Baquba, Tuesday.

Salahuddin

A car bomb detonated in Baiji, Tuesday killing five people and injuring 18 others, Tuesday.
