Baghdad
Three mortar rounds slammed into the Baghdad International Airport area, used as a base by the U.S. military, at around 3 p.m. Friday. No casualties were reported by the U.S. military.
Salahuddin
A car bomb that was parked near the home of Muhammed Akram, (a Turkoman member of the former parliament, for the Sadrist trend that is led by anti-American firebrand cleric, Muqtada al Sadr), in Tuz Khormatu district, northeast Salahuddin, detonated, Friday, killing 18 people and injuring another 22, said operations' centre officials.
Diyala
A car bomb parked near the home of a police officer in al Mualimeen neighbourhood, west Baquba, detonated at 1.30 p.m. Friday injuring 32 people including seven children, nine women and 16 men. Seven of the injured were the police officer's family members, they were women and children. Some injuries were serious – but most were superficial.
Commander of Sahwa forces in Diyala, Husam al Mujamma'i, survived an assassination attempt when a roadside bomb targeted his car on the main route to the town of Khan Beni Saad, at 11.30 a.m. Friday. The explosion destroyed the car, but al Mujamma'i got away with superficial injuries.
A home made bomb that was planted inside Quds police station in Abu Saida district, 10 km to the north of Baquba, detonated at 7 p.m. Thursday, killing two policemen and injuring three others.
Nineveh
A policeman was killed by a magnetic bomb that was stuck to his car, late Wednesday. The bomb exploded in al Zira'i neighbourhood, north Mosul, while he was headed home from work.
