Baghdad
Armed men in a speeding car opened fire at Mohammed Salih Ahmed's car, a director general in the interior ministry in Mansour, west Baghdad at 7 a.m. Wednesday. Ahmed was injured as were his son and driver who were with him in the car.
Two roadside bombs went off under two civilian cars in one street in Baladiyat neighbourhood, east Baghdad at 6 and 6.30 p.m. Tuesday, injuring two civilians.
Anbar
Two car bombs and one suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt targeted high ranking officials, including the governor of Anbar, Qassim Mohammed, in Ramadi at around 10 a.m. Wednesday killing at least 23 and injuring 53 others. Qassim got away with serious injuries.
Diyala
A roadside bomb targeted a procession of pilgrims returning from Karbala in Khalis, 15 km to the north of Baquba killing seven people including Khalis chief of police and injuring 25, including four policemen.
Nineveh
Men armed with pistols fitted with silencers in a speeding car opened fire and killed one civilian in his thirties in al Noor neighbourhood, east Mosul, Tuesday.
Insurgents threw a home-made bomb at police patrol in Bab al Jadeed neighbourhood, central Mosul, Tuesday, injuring two policemen.
