The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

A magnetic bomb stuck to a car belonging to a police officer in the criminal investigations department, detonated on the airport road in west Baghdad, at around 8 a.m. Monday, killing the officer and seriously injuring a civilian who was in the car with him.

A roadside bomb detonated in al Hurriyah Square, Karrada, central Baghdad at around 9 a.m. Monday, injuring two civilians.

A roadside bomb targeted a federal police patrol in al Adil intersection at around 10 a.m. Monday, injuring two police officers.

A roadside bomb targeted civilians in Baladiyat intersection at around 11 a.m. Monday, injuring two young men.

A magnetic bomb stuck to a civilian car detonated on the main thoroughfare in Ataifiyah neighbourhood, northern Baghdad, Monday evening, killing the driver.

Nineveh

A suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt targeted the motorcade of the members of the Judicial Council of Tel Afar district in Salam neighbourhood, Tel Afar, to the northwest of Mosul, Monday, killing the head of the Judicial Council, one security guard and two civilians and severely injuring seven members of the council.

Armed men attacked a checkpoint manned by federal police in al Majmu'a al Thaqafiyah neighbourhood, northern Mosul, Monday, killing one policeman.

Armed men opened fire and killed a civilian in his early twenties in al Tanak neighbourhood, western Mosul, Monday, using pistols fitted with silencers.

Insurgents threw a thermal charge at an Iraqi army patrol in al Islah al Zira'i neighbourhood, western Mosul, Monday. The explosion injured two servicemen.
