The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

A roadside bomb targeted the motorcade of a high ranking governmental official in Nidhal Street, central Baghdad at 7.30 a.m. Monday, injuring two civilian by-standers and causing material damages to one of the motorcade vehicles.

A roadside bomb targeted a traffic patrol in Karrada, central Baghdad at 8.30 a.m. Monday, injuring two civilian by-standers.

A roadside bomb targeted a U.S. military convoy in Husseiniyah, a northern suburb of Baghdad at noon, Monday, injuring two civilians. No casualties were reported by the U.S. military.

A magnetic bomb targeted civilians near a petrol station near Wathiq Square, Karrada, central Baghdad at 12.30 p.m. Monday, injuring four young men.

A roadside bomb left under Sinak Bridge in central Baghdad blew up at 1 p.m. Monday injuring one civilian.

Gunmen open fire at former Iraqi PM, Ayad Allawi's motorcade in Gailani neighbourhood, central Baghdad, at 6 p.m. Monday. Allawi was not with the motorcade, but two of his security guards were injured in the incident.

A magnetic bomb stuck to a civilian car detonated in New Baghdad at 7 p.m. Monday, injuring two civilians, the driver of the car and a pedestrian.

Gunmen opened fire at Emad al Abadi, correspondent for al Diyar satellite channel (Iraqi) near the channel's main offices in Salhiyah neighbourhood, central Baghdad, Monday and shot him in the head, neck and shoulder. Abadi miraculously managed to reach the entrance of the station's ofices alive and was taken immediately to hospital for treatment. His condition is critical.

Nineveh

A roadside bomb targeted an Iraqi army patrol in front of the main entrance of Mosul University campus, northern Mosul, Monday, killing one officer and injuring one civilian.

Kirkuk

Chief of police in Rajim Awa district survived an assassination attempt when a roadside bomb targeted his motorcade in southern Kirkuk, Monday. The explosion damaged a number of civilian cars and caused material damages to the nearby houses.

Insurgents driving a Hyundai sedan kidnapped a 55 year old Christian citizen near his home in Wasiti neighbourhood while he was on his way to work, Monday morning.

A roadside bomb targeted the car of the deputy chief of criminal investigation in Kirkuk city, Col. Aras Mohammed in south Kirkuk, Monday. Mohammed survived with some damage to his car.
