Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq-Sunday 22 November 2009

The daily Iraqi violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It’s posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy’s Washington Bureau.


Gunmen assassinated Brigadier General Talib Radad the head of Karkh Criminal Department. The incident took place in Saidiyah neighborhood in south Baghdad, Saturday evening.

Around 11p.m. six civilians were wounded by a bomb that was put inside a store for selling compact disks in Bab Al Sharji downtown Baghdad. The explosion damaged some stores in this area.

Around 7 p.m. a roadside bomb targeted an American patrol in Ur neighborhood northeast Baghdad. One vehicle was damaged.


Seven people were killed including four policemen and five civilians were wounded by a care bomb that blew up in a marketplace in Garma town north Fallujah, Sunday at around 11 a.m.

Two policemen were wounded when policemen checkpoint opened fire upon a suicide car bomb in Al Qaem town west Ramadi, around 9 a.m.


Gunmen assassinated Yawez Amed Hussein the responsible of Turkmen front in Mosul in Al Nour neighborhood east of Mosul.

Gunmen assassinated an employee in the municipality of Mosul in Al Majmoa al Thaqafiyah neighborhood north Mosul. Around 7 p.m.

One child was killed and four people were wounded including two policemen by a roadside bomb that targeted a patrol of police in Suq Al Shaaren neighborhood west Mosul,
