Baghdad
An improvised bomb left inside a diner in the commercial part of Bayaa neighbourhood, southwest Baghdad, detonated at noon Monday, killing at least one civilian and injuring at least 10 others. Toll may rise because many of the injured were serious, said Iraqi police.
A civilian was killed and eight others were wounded when a bomb detonated inside a bus in Shaab neighborhood in north Baghdad aroud 3 p.m.
Three people including a policeman were injured by a roadside bomb that targeted a police patrol in Maisaloon intersection inKarrada neighborhood around 8 p.m.
Nineveh
Gunmen opened fire and killed Brig. Gen. Thenoon Younis, Head of the Bureau of Tribal Affairs in the province, Monday. Younis was in his car, just outside his home in Hadbaa neighbourhood north Mosul, heading to work when he was killed. Two civilian passers-by were also injured by gun-shot-fire in the incident.
Insurgents threw a hand grenade at a U.S. military convoy in Wadi Hajar, southern Mosul. No casualties were reported.
Salahuddin
District Commissioner of Abta district, Abdulrahman Khalid, survived an assassination attempt, Monday, when a roadside bomb targeted his motorcade causing only material damages to the vehicles.
Diyala
A roadside bomb targeted a civilian car in the town of Shahraban, 36 km to the east of Baquba, Monday, killing the civilian driver.
Anbar
A suicide bomber driving a car bomb targeted a checkpoint manned by police in north Garma, 15 km to the north of Fallujah, Monday, killing two policemen and injuring four others.
Kirkuk
The Head of Criminal Investigation Bureau in Kirkuk province, Col. Qais Amer Naji, survived an assassination attempt, when a magnetic bomb that was stuck to his car detonated, in front of his house in Gharnata neighbourhood, as he was about to go to work, Monday morning.
