This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.
Baghdad
A magnetic bomb stuck to the car of the head of Islamic studies in the Sunni Endowment office detonated in Adhamiyah, northern Baghdad at 10 a.m. Thursday. The target was not in the car, and the explosion seriously injured his driver and body guard.
Three mortar rounds were fired at the Green Zone at around 9 p.m. Thursday. One fell in the Green zone, with no casualties reported. And the other two fell short, one behind Babil Hotel and the other near Jadriyah Bridge, injuring four civilians.
Nineveh
A roadside bomb targeted an Iraqi army patrol in al Islah al Zira'I neighbourhood, western Mosul, Thursday, injuring one serviceman and one civilian.
A truck bomb driven by a suicide bomber targeted a police checkpoint in Tel Afar, to the northwest of Mosul at 6 p.m. Thursday, killing three civilians and injuring three civilians and three policemen. The toll may rise because some of the injured are critical, said Iraqi police.
A parked car bomb targeted an Asayesh (Kurdish intelligence) patrol in Zummar district, to the northwest of Mosul, Thursday evening, injuring two civilians and two Asayesh.
Kirkuk
A sound bomb exploded in Tuz Khormatu district to the south of the city of Kirkuk, Wednesday. When Asayesh (Kurdish intelligence) came to investigate, a roadside bomb targeted their patrol killing two and seriously injuring another three.
Anbar
An Iraqi civilian threw his sandals at a passing U.S. military convoy, Wednesday. The U.S. military returned fire, seriously injuring the man who was later taken by Iraqi police to the local hospital for treatment, said Iraqi police. The U.S. military confirmed the incident: A man in Fallujah allegedly threw an object, believed to be a grenade, at a U.S. Marine and Iraqi Security Forces patrol, Sept.16. Upon positive identification of the attacker, U.S. forces fired in self-defense, wounding the attacker.
