Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq - Saturday 12 September 2009

The daily Iraqi violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It’s posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy’s Washington Bureau.


Two policemen were injured by a roadside bomb that targeted a police patrol under Jadriyah Bridge in Qadisiyah neighborhood in west Baghdad around 9 a.m.

Three civilians were killed and 15 others were injured when two bombs detonated in sequence around 12 p.m. The first bomb detonated near the ministry of health in Bab al-Muatham neighborhood in downtown Baghdad while the second one detonated near.

One civilian was killed and another was injured by an adhesive bomb that was stuck to a civilian car in Tobchi neighborhood in northwest Baghdad.

Five civilians were injured when an adhesive bomb detonated in Athemiyah neighborhood in northeast Baghdad around 4 p.m.


Gunmen driving two pick up vehicles attacked a checkpoint of the Iraq army near the outskirt of Reyadh town in southwest of Kirkuk on Friday evening killing five Iraqi soldiers. The security source confirmed that the insurgents burnt two bodies after the incident.


Around 4 p.m. an adhesive bomb that was stuck to the car of Ahmed Al-Zheri, a Sahwa leader in Dali Abbas area part of Muqdadiyah city east of Baquba killing him, a man and two other women.


A traffic police was killed by a roadside bomb that targeted a patrol of Iraqi army in Al-Qahira neighborhood in north Mosul on Saturday afternoon.

Two members of the federal police were injured during clashes with insurgents in Al-Rifae area in west Mosul on Saturday afternoon.

Two Iraqi soldiers were injured by a roadside bomb that targeted their patrol in Al-Wihda neighborhood in Mosul on Saturday evening.
