The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

A magnetic bomb stuck to a government-owned car belonging to the Iraqi Cabinet exploded in Wathiq Square, central Baghdad at 8.30 a.m. Monday seriously injuring the driver.

An insurgent threw a hand grenade at a checkpoint manned by Iraqi army in Mamoun neighbourhood, western Baghdad at 10.30 a.m. Monday injuring four civilians and two servicemen.

Checkpoint personnel suspected a car in the checkpoint in Habibiyah, northeastern Baghdad and stopped it for a more thorough search behind blast walls where it was found to be carrying a sticky bomb that detonated killing the driver, Monday afternoon.

Insurgents left an IED inside a taxi and detonated it as the taxi approached the checkpoint in Adhamiyah, northern Baghdad at 2.30 p.m. Monday, killing the driver and injuring six civilians and two servicemen.

Two mortar rounds hit the Green Zone at around 6 p.m. Monday. No casualties were reported.

A magnetic bomb stuck to a civilian car detonated on the highway in Khadhraa neighbourhood, western Baghdad at 10 30 p.m. Monday severely injuring the driver.

Diyala

A suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt targeted a mosque in central Baquba at 10 p.m. Monday, killing three policemen and two civilians and injuring 20 civilians.

Karbala

A magnetic bomb stuck to a Kia minibus detonated as it approached the checkpoint at the entrance to the city of Karbala, Monday afternoon, killing three civilians and injuring four civilians and one policeman.

Nineveh

A sticky bomb was stuck to the car of a colonel in the Nineveh police force. It detonated as he was approaching the checkpoint on his way to Tilkeif, to the north of Mosul. The explosion killed the officer and one of his sons and injured his other two sons and two Peshmerga (Kurdish militia).

Anbar

A suicide bomber driving a car containing explosives targeted the checkpoint in al Jazeera neighbourhood in Ramadi, Monday morning, killing seven policemen and injured 11 policemen and civilians. The explosion also destroyed a number of nearby cars.

Kirkuk

A worker in the North Oil company wa killed by gunmen in al Wasity neighbourhood, western Kirkuk late Sunday.
