Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq - Wednesday 26 August, 2009

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.


A parked car bomb went off in Wahran Square, the junction between Fdhailiyah and Baladiyat neighbourhoods in eastern Baghdad at 11 a.m. Wednesday, injuring two policemen and three civilians.

A roadside bomb targeted civilians in Nidhal Street, central Baghdad at noon, Wednesday, injuring four civilians.

A gunman shot one bullet in the air as the motorcade of the Minister of Planning, Ali Baban, drove past in Arasat neighbourhood, central Baghdad at 9 p.m. Tuesday. It is not clear whether the gunman was targeting the minister.


Gunmen boarded a mini bus, shot dead one civilian and when fighting broke out started shooting randomly and killed one small girl, and then got away. The incident took place in Yarmouk neighbourhood, western Mosul, Wednesday afternoon.

A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol in Faisaliyah neighbourhood, central Mosul Tuesday afternoon killing two civilians and injuring one policeman.


A roadside bomb targeted and killed a farmer in his orchard in Buhruz, 4 km to the south of Baquba Wednesday morning.

Two bodies were found in Imam Mansour, Baladruz district, 45 km to the east of Baquba, Wednesday.
