The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

A booby trapped motorcycle parked in al Rasheed Street, central Baghdad targeted civilians at 8 a.m. Thursday killing two and injuring four.

Diyala

Five Kurds, members of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK, which is headed by President Talabani) were kidnapped from a café located in front of the party headquarters in Jalowlaa district Thursday morning and their bodies were found on the main route between Jalowlaa and Khanaqeen Thursday afternoon.

Thi Qar

A roadside bomb targeted an American military convoy in al Mansouriyah area, to the west of the city of Nasiriyah, Thursday morning and the explosion caused no casualties or material damages, said Iraqi police. The American military commented, "We have no reports of an attack on an American convoy in Nasiriyah. However, there was an improvised-explosive device attack on an Iraqi/American convoy in Basra today resulting in no damage and no injuries."

Nineveh

Gunmen attacked a checkpoint manned by Iraqi police in Yabisat neighbourhood, western Mosul, Wednesday evening, killing one policeman and injuring three others.

A roadside bomb targeted an Iraqi army patrol in al Mawali village, 60 km to the west of Mosul, Wednesday killing one serviceman and injured four others.

A roadside bomb targeted an Iraqi army patrol in New Mosul, central Mosul, Thursday, killing one serviceman and injuring five others.

Babil

A Kia mini bus filled with passengers detonated near the checkpoint at the entrance of the town of Mahawil, 13 km to the north of Hilla at 2 p.m. Thursday, killing eight civilians and injuring 21 others.

Two roadside bombs went off simultaneously in an open air market in the centre of Mahawil at around 2.30 p.m. Thursday killing nine civilians and injuring 42 others.

A roadside bomb went off in Hilla, Thursday afternoon causing no casualties or damages.

Two roadside bombs went off simultaneously in the city of Musayeb, 27 km to the north of Hilla late Thursday afternoon killing 13 civilians and injuring 130 others.
