Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq - Thursday 6 August 2009

The daily Iraqi violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It’s posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy’s Washington Bureau.


One civilian was killed and three others were wounded by an adhesive bomb that was stuck to their car in Abu disheer neighborhood southern Baghdad around 2 p.m.

A civilian was killed by an IED while he was trying to enter his house where he displaced from in Doura neighborhood in south Baghdad around 5 p.m.


Around 12 p.m. a roadside bomb detonated in downtown Tikrit city targeting a police vehicle. No casualties were reported.


On Thursday afternoon, two insurgents were killed and a third one was injured in alFaisaliyah area in east Mosul while they were transfering a bomb in their car.


Five people were killed and 24 others were wounded by a car bomb inside a market place in downtown Kirkuk city on Thursday evening.


Around 8 p.m. gunmen attacked an exchange office in downtown Baquba city killing the owner and robbing the money.

Around 11 p.m. gunmen attacked a checkpoint of Sahwa council in Uthmaniyah area in southwest Baquba killing one Sahwa member and injuring four.
