Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq - Tuesday 30 June 2009

Four U.S. soldiers were killed in a combat related incident, June 29. said a U.S. military spokesman. No further details regarding time and place were released.


Two roadside bombs targeted civilians in Mechanic neighbourhood in Doura, southern Baghdad at 1 p.m. Tuesday injuring four civilians.


A car bomb targeted civilians in an open air market in central Kirkuk at 5.30 p.m. Tuesday killing at least 28 and injuring at least 93. Many of the victims were women and children, one woman was pregnant Kirkuk police said.


An insurgent opened fire upon a checkpoint manned by Iraqi army in al Islah neighbourhood in western Mosul. The soldiers returned fire killing the insurgent.
