Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq - Thursday 14 May 2009

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.


Gunmen targeted Haider Hassoun, an employee in the Sunni Endowment Office in Talbiyah neighbourhood, northeastern Baghdad at noon Thursday. Hassoun survived and is being treated for his injuries.

Gunmen targeted another employee in the Sunni Endowment Office in Adil neighbourhood, western Baghdad at 1 a.m. Thursday. He was driving his car when gunmen in a speeding car opened fire upon him severely injuring him.

A six year old boy who had been kidnapped three days ago was found Thursday inside a plastic bag, brutally killed, not 50 meters away from where he lived.


Gunmen opened fire upon two civilians in Imam Ali neighbourhood, Tuz district in southern Kirkuk late Wednesday killing one of them and severely injuring the other.

A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol in Qadisiyah neighbourhood in central Kirkuk injuring two policemen; one of them is in a critical condition.


- A roadside bomb targeted an Iraqi army patrol in Jammasa neighborhood in Mosul on Thursday afternoon. Four people were wounded.


-Around 4:45 p.m. gunmen broke into a house in the Sada neighborhood in northern Baquba on Thursday. They killed a mother and two of her sons who were Sahwa members.
