Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq - Tuesday 12 May 2009

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.


- A roadside bomb targeted an Iraqi army patrol in Abu Graib (west of Baghdad) on Tuesday afternoon. Four people were wounded.

- At 9:37 p.m. a roadside bomb detonated near Kababchi restaurant in Arsat neighborhood in downtown Baghdad on Tuesday. Two people were wounded.


The body of a 13 year old girl who was kidnapped two days ago in the town of Mendili was found by Iraqi Police Tuesday. She had been shot several times. No ransom had been demanded.

A roadside bomb targeted an Iraqi Army foot patrol in the town of Naft Khana 120 km to the northeast of Baquba at 1 p.m. Tuesday injuring six servicemen, three of whom are in a critical condition.


A roadside bomb targeted a tanker truck carrying fuel on the highway 5 km to the west of Tikrit early Tuesday. The truck, which was part of a private security company convoy exploded, but no casualties were reported.


A suicide car bomb targeted a police patrol on the main route from Kirkuk City to Baghdad at 10.30 a.m. Tuesday killing six policemen and injuring 12 civilians.


A roadside bomb planted under the Fifth Bridge in central Mosul was detonated under control by the police, Tuesday. The explosion slightly wounded one bystander.
