Roundup of Daily Violence in Iraq-Thursday 19 March 2009

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau. Baghdad

- A magnetic bomb detonated under a civilian's car in Haifa street in downtown Baghdad around 10 p.m.on Wednesday. The passenger, who was a candidate of the Islamic party in the last provincial elections, was killed at once.


- Police found a dead body for a man in the forties in Malaeen neighborhood in northern Mosul at dawn.

- Gunmen assassinated the mayor of the Dobridan village of Bashiqa (east of Mosul), Khalil Abdul Rahman, in his village around noon.


- The US troops killed ten gunmen in clashes took place between the American troops and gunmen in Daynia village of Bald Ruz (east of Baquba) around 6 p.m. The US troops delivered the ten dead bodies of the gunmen to Baquba morgue around 7 p.m., police said.
