Roundup of Daily Violence in Iraq- Monday 2 March 2009

The daily Iraqi violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It’s posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy’s Washington Bureau.


- A roadside bomb targeted an army patrol in Tameem neighborhood in eastern Mosul on Sunday. One soldier was killed and two others were wounded.

- A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol in Bab al-Jadeed in downtown Mosul. Three people were wounded.


- A roadside bomb targeted an army patrol in Balad Ruz (about 30 miles east of Baquba) around 1:30 p.m. Two soldiers were killed and three others were wounded.

- A bicycle- bomb detonated near a Shiite mosque in Khalis town (about 10 miles north of Baquba) around 5:45 p.m. Three people were killed and sixteen others were wounded.
