Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq-Monday 12 January 2008

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.


- Around 8 a.m. a roadside bomb and a parked car bomb exploded targeting civilians in New Baghdad neighborhood. Three civilians were killed and ten others were injured.

- Around 8:15 a.m. a sticky bomb exploded in a civilian car in Sheikh Omar area killing one person and injuring another.

- Around 9 a.m. a roadside bomb exploded in Karrada neighborhood near Kahramana square killing one civilian and injuring two civilians and one traffic policeman.

- Around 10 a.m. a roadside bomb targeted an Iraqi police vehicle injuring one policeman and three civilians.

- Around 11 a.m. A roadside bomb targeted a truck of the Iraqi army carrying ammunition in Yarmouk neighborhood killing three soldiers and injuring three civilians.

- Iraqi police found on dead body in Dora neighborhood in Baghdad.


- A sticky bomb exploded in a civilian car in Mosul city. The bomb targeted and injured Faris Sinjari a leading member in political entity, Al Hadbaa, participating in the upcoming elections.

- A roadside bomb targeted an Iraqi army vehicle in Mosul city injuring two soldiers.
