Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq-Thursday 1 January 2009

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.


- A car bomb detonated in downtown Mosul targeting a police patrol around 2 p.m. Three policemen were killed and two civilians were wounded.

- Gunmen killed a guard of the FPS (Facility Protection Service) in Dorat al-Hamam in Mosul around 5 p.m.


- A missile hit one of the coalition forces headquarters in the Baath neighborhood in Kirkuk city Wednesday. No casualties reported.
