Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq - Thursday 18 December 2008

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.


- Mortars hit Sleikh neighborhood (north Baghdad). One person was killed and six others were wounded, Wednesday night.


- A roadside bomb targeted an Iraqi army patrol in downtown Baquba city around 10 a.m. Eighteen people were wounded including two soldiers.


- A roadside bomb targeted an army patrol in Bakr neighborhood in Mosul city. One soldier was killed and another wounded.

- A roadside bomb detonated near the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) headquarter in Bashiqa town (northeast Mosul). No casualties reported but some damage to the building.
